ObliviGun

ObliviGun was my entry into Wheeljam 2025, a game jam based on the Oblivion dialogue wheel. I put the wheel on a gun.

WHEEL WHEEL WHEEL

I put the Oblivion dialogue wheel on a gun. Every time you reload, you spin the wheel. The four quadrants correlated generally to major components of the gunplay, such as fire rate and damage. I prioritized making it absolutely goofy, so something increasing projectile count greatly increased projectile spread. Good luck hitting anything!

The original Oblivion wheel was kinda bad and usually had a "solution" -- I didn't want players sitting for ten seconds trying to map out the perfect wheel, so the wheel spins at random (well, part-random) after every selection. Each reload is a die roll, and hitting a good combo of weapon stats is gonna feel really good, but only for until you run out of ammo.

I only had a week to build out everything a first-person shooter needs. This includes resource systems for health and ammo, enemies, levels, progression mechanics -- all with their associated art and audio.

I ended up with 3 major arenas (well, 4 if you count the [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS]). I also added a money system because exploding crates full of cash feels awesome. I didn't add vending machines to spend the money on until literally the final hour of the jam, but they got in there so I'm counting that as a win.
